The out-going chairman of Gorebridge Community Council expressed his relief after new members were elected last week.
At its annual general meeting the group elected Eddie Robertson as chairman, Trevor Taylor, as vice chairman, Marian Tytler, as secretary and Tracy Cranston as minutes secretary. They joined Heather Webb-Nelson, who remains as treasurer.
These appointments allayed fears after three members, including chairman Peter Maher, announced their intention to stand down last month.
Mr Maher was delighted: “I’m stunned, I was a little bit worried. If nobody came forward I would have carried on just to steady the ship. At one time I was worried the community council would have to disband. So I am a much happier man now.”
