A “miracle” cat that raises the alarm when her teenage owner suffers life-threatening seizures has passed her amazing dedication to her young kitten.
Perla the cat made national headlines after surviving being hit by a car.
Not only has she made a full recovery, she has now given birth to a kitten who also keeps check on St David’s High pupil Maria Gillon.
Maria (13), from Gorebridge, has had ventricular tachycardia (fast heart rhythm) for nearly three years. This rare condition gives her around a dozen heart seizures a day, causing severe chest pain, impaired vision and loss of hearing.
Her three-year-old cat Perla alerts Maria’s mum Adele (32), every time Maria has a seizure at night by biting Adele’s toes to wake her and then returning to comfort her young owner.
