PUPILS at a Gorebridge school have been recycling reading materials to help the environment.
Children at St Andrew’s RC Primary School enjoyed a very successful morning running a recent book exchange.
Organised by the Eco Committee, the event will assist the school towards achieving a Silver Eco Award.
The Eco-Schools programme engages children and young people on key issues, including the environment, sustainability, global citizenship and the value of a low-carbon future.
The pupils brought in books videos and DVDs that they no longer needed and exchanged them for others. Parents and staff also brought in books to exchange.
It was a good way to recycle and everyone was happy with their new item.
Principal teacher Lorraine Cusack said: “The idea came from the children, who then went on to organise it by themselves.
“On behalf of the Eco Committee, I wish to thank the staff, pupils and parents for all their hard work. I am very proud of the efforts of our Eco Committee.”
