This year’s Gorebridge Gala Day week comes to an end with two big events this weekend aimed at bringing fun but at a reasonable price.
On Friday evening, The Fancy Dress Fantastic Friday event kicks off with a parade from Arniston Rangers car park at 6.30pm, heading to Gore Glen for an evening of family events including races and tug of war.
And on Saturday, the Gala Day parade leaves Hunter’s Square at 12.30pm, with the king and queen crowning at Gore Glen at 1-1.30pm. The shows are on from Thursday.
Gorebridge Gala Day Committee chairman Dennis Campbell said: “We have the same kind of stuff as last year. Quad bikes, climbing walls, segways. Last year we introduced a pre-school area so we are having that again. These activities are £1. Making it a bit more affordable for families.
“It’s not broken, so why try to fix it? We have just freshened up wee bits. Pony rides are back again. And we will have more face painters this year as there always seems to be a big queue for that.
“After the crowning ceremony we have a couple of dance troupes and baton twirlers on the main stage. And we hope to have a band to finish toff the afternoon.”
