GOREBRIDGE will accelerate into the internet superhighway’s fast lane next year.
The village is among 34 new exchange areas included in the next phase of BT’s £2.5 billion super-fast fibre broadband programme.
More than 2700 local houses and businesses will benefit in the latest upgrade, which is the latest phase of the company’s £2.5 billion UK roll-out of fibre broadband.
Made available through BT Openreach, the network features a mix of fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and fibre to the premises (FTTP) technologies. FTTP, where the fibre goes directly to homes and businesses, offers speeds of up to 100Mbps, rising to 300Mbps in the spring.
