Ariana Grande is nothing if not consistent.
Since her debut album Yours Truly in 2013, the 22-year-old has had a string of top 10 singles on both sides of the Atlantic, after successfully segueing from a teen TV career (on Nickleodeon show Victorious and spin off Sam & Cat) to music world domination.
And the American singer’s style has barely changed, either - but that’s no bad thing.
Rather than adhering to the chameleon school of fashion theory (a la Lady Gaga or Katy Perry), Grande has a look: flippy skirts and prom dresses, crop tops, lots of pink and ALWAYS a high ponytail - and she sticks to it.
“It’s nice to have a go-to style,” she says. “I’ve always been a fan of fashion and I like to feel comfortable with what I am wearing, but I have fun changing it up from time to time too.”
Just scraping the five foot mark, it’s clear the diminutive brunette knows what suits her, and says her signature style gives her confidence when she’s in the spotlight.
“Red carpets make me nervous, but if you feel good, it helps you to look happy and more confident. On stage and on the red carpet, I usually keep to styles that I know suit me and I’m going to feel comfortable in.”
Now, Grande is bringing her trademark brand of flirty fashion to the masses by teaming up with Brit brand Lipsy for her first clothing collaboration, beginning with a 25-piece spring collection (plus jewellery).
Split into daywear, party pieces and prom looks, the range perfectly distils the short and sweet aesthetic Grande’s fans (some 120 million of them on social media) know and love - and that’s who the chart-topper had in mind when she was working on the project.
“I really wanted to do something special for my fans and Lipsy really helped me make it happen. I really hope everyone likes it!” she says animatedly.
Describing the collaborative process as “super fun”, it looks like the singer has caught the design bug and we reckon she’s got a bunch of high street hits on her hands with this offering.
So we asked Grande to talk us through the new collection, plus her high street fashion favourites and top styling tips...

“I’m obsessed with the white floral bandeau dress. It’s fun, flirty, feminine and just super cute. I think it’s a dress you could easily dress up with heels or toughen up with the biker jacket from the collection. I also love the crop top and skirt combos.”
