THE organiser of the campaign to evict the Da Vinci Code rapist from his home has quit the group after she was bombarded with vile Facebook messages.

Sharon O’Donnell, from Newtongrange, helped to set up the ‘Get Robert Greens Out’ campaign after the convicted rapist was re-housed just six miles from where he had viciously attacked and raped a young Dutch student in 2005.

The movement saw hundreds of protesters twice descend on Greens’ secluded home, near Bonnyrigg, hold a mass demonstration outside Midlothian Council offices and gather close to 14,000 online supporters on a ‘Get Robert Greens Out’ Facebook page.

But mum-of-two Sharon, who has also helped set up a community support group for victims of sexual and physical abuse after being “inundated” with requests from worried locals, has quit the movement after she received scores of “disgusting” online messages which, she told the Advertiser, had left her “in tears for days”.
