A MUTILATED snake was discovered in a Midlothian estate last week.
A dog walker discovered the decapitated common boa inside a plastic storage box at a field near Oak Place, Mayfield, last Monday afternoon.
The snake’s head had been severed and placed inside the container and its body was covered in wounds.
The shocked local phoned the police who then alerted Scotland’s animal welfare charity, the Scottish SPCA.
