A new Midlothian Local Development Plan is being prepared to provide an updated development strategy and planning policy framework to guide growth and investment across Midlothian to 2024.
Views on the questions raised in a ‘Main Issues Report’ are being sought by Midlothian Council.
The Strategic Development Plan for Edinburgh and South East Scotland has set new requirements for housing and employment land, in addition to that already planned.
At this stage, the council is seeking views on a preferred development strategy and, where possible, some alternative sites to meet these requirements.
These include housing sites in Roslin, Bilston, Rosewell, Eskbank, Bonnyrigg, Shawfair, Easthouses and Gorebridge, and employment land at The Bush, Loanhead, Shawfair and Dalkeith.
The Main Issues Report asks what might be needed to enable this growth to be accommodated by Midlothian’s communities.
The report can be viewed on the Council’s website at www.midlothian.gov.uk/MLDP.
There is a consultation portal where the documents can be viewed and comments can be made online.
The documents can also be viewed at local Midlothian libraries, or at the council’s offices at Fairfield House, Dalkeith. Comments can be posted to: Planning Policy & Environment, Midlothian Council, Fairfield House, 8 Lothian Road, Dalkeith EH22 3ZN.
A number of drop-in consultation events have been arranged.
Full details of these are on the council’s website, and also in a leaflet which is available in libraries and other venues.
