This week sees the launch of the Advertiser’s Appeal from the Heart campaign – which aims to support local organisations who are raising money and awareness for life-saving defibrillator equipment.
According to the British Heart Foundation, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival by 10 per cent.
Literally, every minute counts when saving a life!
Arniston Rangers Community Sports Club will soon take delivery of a defibrillator machine, in memory of their assistant coach Neil Brownlie (pictured below left), who died from a heart attack last month, aged 49.
Elsewhere in Midlothian, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic Football Club wants to buy a defibrillator since committee member Craig Devine suffered a heart attack and died during an away match at Linlithgow Rose last May.
