BRIDGING course students at Jewel & Esk College have teamed up with a Borders farm to sell bags of vegetables at its Midlothian campus.
The college’s partnership with West Linton’s Whitmuir Organics was set up last month after a group of students visited the 54-hectare upland farm in a bid to get them involved with an environmental initiative.
Farmer Pete Ritchie said: “The visit was so successful that the idea of a veg bag scheme was born, as staff and students set to work establishing a weekly order system.”
Students visit the farm once a week to sort, weigh and bag organic vegetables which are delivered to each campus.
