Fears that residents of a Lasswade caravan site could be “evicted” were discussed amid a proposal to build homes on the site – which has been rejected.
The bid, submitted by Mr C Robin Aston, was knocked back by Midlothian Council’s planning committee, despite officers recommending it be granted.
The application – considered in principle – was for a residential development of up to 64 units at Kevock Vale Park, Westmill Road.
But councillors were advised the actual number of homes which would be considered would be significantly lower. The site, with 61 park homes, is within a conservation area.
