Dave and Laura MacKay, the recently retired chairman and secretary of Rosewell and District Community Council, were presented with the inaugural Archie Pacey Award at the Midlothian Federation of Community Councils’ April meeting.

The award, presented by Archie (centre), was set up to recognise the outstanding work, enthusiasm and commitment of individuals to their communities.

The MacKays took up their posts 15 years ago and have represented the views of their community all that time.

With Dave and Laura leading, RDCC founded the Rosewell Development Trust in 2010.

Federation chairman Robert Hogg said: “I am delighted that we have such well-deserved winners of the Archie Pacey Award and that our former chairman Archie Pacey has joined us tonight to present the award in person to our first-ever winners, Dave and Laura of Rosewell, for their dedicated service over 15 years to the community of Rosewell and District.”

Archie added that the award recognised a couple who had given “signal service to their local community and is well-merited”.
