A £16.5 million housing development, providing 133 affordable homes for Midlothian, has been opened officially in Mayfield.

Pupils from Lawfield Primary School joined Margaret Burgess MSP, the Minister for Housing and Welfare, and representatives from Dalkeith-based Melville Housing Association to unveil a plaque and artwork that they helped to design alongside Scottish artist Susheila Jamieson and poet Ken Cockburn.

The project, which has been employing more than 100 people during construction by Hart Builders, is the largest development undertaken by Melville.
