A MIDLOTHIAN sculptor’s work will form a memorial to a Scottish regiment’s soldiers who died in the Great War.

Alan Herriot, who works from Endeavour Art Studios near Howgate, has been commissioned to create the first statue dedicated to the Black Watch, 3rd battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS).

His statue of a kilted Black Watch soldier is to be unveiled next year at Polygon Wood near Zonnebeke in Belgium.
