A WAR hero’s commemorative statue will soon take shape in a Midlothian sculptor’s studio.
The bronze sculpture has been on Alan Herriot’s mind for several years, but 2013 is a deadline he is desperate to reach.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the subject’s death and his contribution to the allied war effort will be remembered during events at home and abroad.
But the imposing statue created in his Howgate studio won’t be the likeness of a grim-faced, battle-scarred figure in khaki, weighed down by weaponry and ammunition.
