Gorebridge resident Bob Smith sent in this photo of the Flying Scotsman as it travelled past Borthwick Castle on Sunday.

The steam train’s visit was originally planned for Saturday but was cancelled when Network Rail GB said the lines had not been properly assessed.
Midlothian South MSP Christine Grahame (SNP) is calling for an enquiry. She said: “I am still calling for an investigation into why Network Rail cancelled in the first place. This should never have been allowed to happen.

“Questions still remain about the nature of the announcement and of course people may have cancelled already so I will still be pursuing the matter early next week.”
