Prices for using Midlothian Council’s sport and leisure facilities and services went up by 10 per cent from April 1.

The revised fees and charges were among a package of savings agreed by the full council in December.

The increase will cover Tonezone memberships, classes and entrance fees.

A spokesman said: “We are confident our services and facilities remain good value for money and we can confirm that the free holiday swim sessions for under 18s will continue.”

At a full meeting of Midlothian Council held on December 20, 2016, council officials brought forward a new programme of savings for consideration by councillors. Although a number of the proposals were rejected, savings measures totalling £4.5 million in 2017/18 were implemented in the next financial year starting on April 1, 2017.
