Concerned residents in Mayfield have been reassured that a popular insulation scheme in the area will be completed.
Rumours had abound that work on the Scottish Government and Midlothian Council scheme was finished, with remaining houses missing out.
However, speaking at last week’s Mayfield and Easthouses Community Council meeting, Billy Jackson from Midlothian Council promised that the remaining 56 homes will be done and that funding has been obtained. He said: “There have been individuals given the wrong information. We can assure you 100 per cent that we will finish.”
Mr Jackson put the confusion down to a change of contractor. He also said that residents would still pay no more than £1,500 per house towards the work, as per previous work, when the scheme returns to Mayfield in January 2017.
