Members of Girlguiding Midlothian joined together in climbing Lawhead Hill, in the Pentlands, where a beacon was lit to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The event on Monday last week was one of several Jubilee celebrations that were held throughout the county. On the Sunday more than 300 Girlguides from Midlothian met at a campsite in Vogrie Country Park for a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee picnic. Each girl was given a royal souvenir box including a Diamond Jubilee mug.

The girls’ Monday evening began with a barbecue at The Flotterstone Inn. They then set off towards the beacon, and joined in singing the National Anthem.
