The Kabin community centre in Loanhead is to launch a weekly lottery on Friday.
Loanhead 50/50 Lottery tickets will cost £1 with weekly draws each Friday. Results will be displayed in the Kabin and on its Facebook and web pages.
Irene Hogg, the driving force behind the Kabin, said: “This is a win-win situation.
“It’s a fantastic way of being involved in the promotion of these inaugural innovative projects involving the integration of activities and events for the local community. I hope everyone will pull together and get involved in supporting this lottery.”
The 50/50 format means that 50 per cent of funds will go straight to the winner with the other 50 per cent supporting local community projects.
The Kabin, based at Maybury Walk, supports more than 1,500 individuals and around 20 organisations. It is managed through Loanhead Community Learning Centre in Mayburn Avenue.
Last week planning consent was granted for the addition of a single-storey extension onto the building occupied by the Loanhead Community Learning.
The proposed extension contains extra floor space for the existing cafe in the building, three multi-purpose rooms and a reception area.
