Loanhead-based firm Macsween has gained another title, winning the Scottish Family Business of the Year Award for 2016.

The company, based at Bilston Glen Industrial Estate, is run by James and Jo Macsween. The company was established in Edinburgh by their grandparents Charlie and Jean Macsween in 1950.

Managing director James Macsween said: “Being a third generation family-run company, we are proud of our traditional values and business achievements.

“We are also fiercely proud to have won the 2016 Scottish family business of the year.”

Paul Andrews, founder and MD of Family Business United, added: “Macsween is passionate about making great-tasting innovative food in an ethical and sustainable way and is continually taking their product to new levels.

“The judges were impressed with the long-term view that the business has taken, their response to changing market conditions, and strong family values.

“They represent a great British family firm that truly deserve all the plaudits that winning this award brings.”
