Mayfield Community Council has hit out at the lack of communication from the police since the district forces amalgamated into Police Scotland.
Community council chairman Robert Hogg said: “It’s just shocking, there is no communication. Nobody to talk to about any issues we might have.
“And if this is replicated throughout Midlothian then I’m very disappointed.
“At a meeting with Police Scotland through the federation of community councils we were told that community policing was a priority for them. But it’s went downhill since they came into being in April last year.”
Chief Inspector Jim Royan said: “We can confirm that we have attended the vast majority of community council meetings across Midlothian since April 1 2013. There are occasions when operational incidents or events mean that this is challenging, but we will always provide a written report.
