Lane changes idea for Midlothian roundabout

ALTERATIONS are being planned at a busy Midlothian junction in a bid to improve road safety.

Midlothian Council is considering alterations to road markings and lane configurations at the Gowkley Moss roundabout north of Penicuik.

The moves follows Penicuik and District Community Council’s concerns about directional road markings causing confusion for motorists negotiating the four-road junction.

In October, community councillors referred to several near misses at the roundabout, caused by vehicles turning into the path of oncoming traffic.

They called on roads officials to investigate the removal of right-turn indicators to ensure drivers make correct decisions about lane choices.
