Lasswade Under 13’s were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Our Lady’s and St Patrick’s (OLSP) in the Quarter Final of the Scottish Cup. Of the two teams it was Lasswade who started brighter, playing most of the first 15 minutes in the OLSP half but unfortunately could not find the opening goal.
OLSP got back into the game and it became a real battle in the midfield, both sides were stringing several passes together and playing good football.
With five minutes remaining OLSP were awarded a free-kick from 35 yards out. They played a lovely ball into the box where their striker headed home the opener. On the stroke of half-time the OLSP left winger found space down the left hand side and was brought down in the box. They converted the penalty to take a two goal lead into half-time.
Lasswade started the second half well again but found themselves 3-0 down after OLSP broke away after a quick free kick. With nothing to lose Lasswade changed formation and threw more men forward. They were rewarded when Cameron Eaton rounded the keeper to make it 3-1 with 10 minutes to go. 5 minutes later Lewis Walker curled a direct free-kick into the top corner to make it 3-2. Lasswade pressed hard for an equaliser but could not find a way through OLSP’s defence. It was a gutsy performance from Lasswade who can be proud of their efforts so far this season.
