Community facilities at the new Lasswade High School in Bonnyrigg are due to be opened up for public use on July 1.
A product of the Scottish Government’s £1.25 billion Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme, sports facilities at the £37.1 million facility include a competition-standard swimming pool and a £3 million gymnastics centre.
By co-locating community space and classrooms under one roof, project manager Maurice McCann expects that the design principals of the building will set a benchmark for Scottish schools.
It’s boxed exterior has been designed so that internal classrooms can feed from natural light.
