There is nothing wrong with the current 30 mph speed limit as it is adhered to by all sensible, conscientious drivers. The ones who speed will continue to do so no matter what the speed limit is lowered to, as long as there is no enforcement of the limits in place. It is just a waste of our council tax when nothing happens to those who ignore them – and there are plenty of culprits out there.
Road safety is not just the responsibility of motorists. Everyone has a part to play – parents, children, cyclists and pedestrians all need to be more aware of their surroundings at all times.
