Licence to steal fuel

Police are investigating after a car’s registration plates were stolen and then used on another car to steal fuel from a nearby petrol station.

At sometime between 7pm and 8pm on January 5, the front and rear registration plates were stolen from a Nissan Qashqai parked in Cockpen View in Bonnyrigg.

These stolen registration plates were later used to cover-up another car’s licence plates from the view of security cameras, in a fuel drive off from the filling station at the Tesco store in Dalkeith, the same evening.
