MIDLOTHIAN’S heritage expertise could lead to new business links with north-eastern Europe.
A delegation from Lithuania toured the county last week to discover how the renovation of historic buildings is breathing new life into neglected areas and sparking economic regeneration.
They visited sites in the Dalkeith regeneration scheme, toured Dalkeith Palace and learned how the Doors Open Day scheme operates in Midlothian.
Ukmerge, about 30 miles west of the capital, Vilnius, is keen to develop its heritage assets using grants from the European Union.
