A Loanhead community facility is celebrating after scooping funding of more than £45,000 to help the local environment.

Loanhead Community Learning Association, based at The Kabin, is to use £46,063 from the Climate Challenge Fund to take action on climate change and move to low-carbon living.

The Loanhead project is one of 33 community-led projects across Scotland to share £2.86 million, annouced by environment minister Aileen McLeod last week.

The LCLA initiative will see an increase in the amount of produce grown at the organic garden and offer growing workshops at The Kabin on Mayburn Walk.

Additional project activities will include cooking and cycling workshops to cut carbon emissions associated with travel and waste while monthly film screenings will raise awareness of climate change.
