Loanhead firm’s safety breach

A LOANHEAD food company has been fined £1,000 after a worker seriously injured his hand on an unguarded dough mixer.

Jian’s Dumplings Ltd, of Dryden Road, Bilston Glen Industrial Estate, pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 when the case was heard last week at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Joseph Burnett (22) sustained damage to his fingers while he was working at the company’s former premises in Gracemount Business Pavilions, Captains Road, Edinburgh, on June 23, 2010.
