The stellar products of a Loanhead company have won a coveted food award.

Macsween of Edinburgh has achieved success in the Great Taste Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Food.

A two-star gold award was presented to Macsween’s traditional haggis. There were also one-star gold awards for the firm’s vegetarian haggis as well as the traditional and vegetarian microwavable haggis.

Around 1600 companies entered 7481 products, which were blind tasted by 350 experts over 34 days.

A two-gold star award recognises a product as an “exquisite food” while a one-star award is for a “virtually faultless food”.
