Midlothian’s oldest and largest local festival reaches its climax with Loanhead Children’s Day this Saturday – but before then, gala week continues with events for all ages.
Today (Thursday 21 June), the Senior Citizens’ Tea Dance will take place in Loanhead Ex-Servicemen’s Club at 1.30 pm. At 6.30 pm, there will be a special show for younger children with The Singing Kettle on the main stage at Fountain Green.
All children attending the show must be accompanied by an adult.
Events on Friday commence at 10am, when pupils from the town’s three primary schools will march in procession to Fountain Green where a joint schools assembly will take place at 10.30am.
The Court Principals for 2012 will be introduced and musical entertainment featuring Fischy Music will be provided. The children will then make their way to the Memorial Park where refreshments will be distributed. The children’s sports will begin in the park at 1pm.
Roundabouts, a giant slide and a bouncy castle will be in the park for the free use of the children attending the sports, and free ice cream will be distributed to the children during the afternoon.
