PLANS to revitalise an historic Midlothian building have received a major funding setback.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has turned down the Mavisbank Trust’s bid for £3.5 million to help save the crumbling mansion near Loanhead.
The funding blow will force trustees to re-think their £5 million plans to save the building’s vulnerable facade and create facilities for private and community use.
