Moves are afoot to reopen a Loanhead road.
Midlothian Council is in the early stages of revoking the traffic regulation order, which has seen Dryden Terrace closed to through traffic for at least a decade.
The closure followed concerns the road was being used as a rat run to the retail park and Pentland Industrial Estate. In the intervening years, cars have used the congested main road through Pentland Industrial Estate to reach the retail park.
Loanhead and District Community Council had recently suggested the time was right for the road to be reopened following the opening of Asda and given that construction work had now started on the new IKEA depot.
Last week, the community council received notification from the local authority that steps were being taken to agree to their request.
However, the community council said it hoped there could be measures to restrict large commercial vehicles from using the road.
