Calls have been made to reopen a Loanhead road in a bid to ease traffic flow around the town.
Dryden Terrace has been closed to traffic for a number of years following safety concerns at the volume of vehicles cutting through to and from Pentland Industrial Estate and Straiton Retail Park.
Initially, only buses and motorcycles could use the route as a rising bollard system was put in place.
Now large concrete blocks prevent access.
At Loanhead and District Community Council last week discussion turned to the impending opening of Asda, at the former Dansco Dairy site, and the ongoing plans for the IKEA distribution centre at the former Lynx parcel delivery yard.
Elizabeth Veitch said: “Because we are going to have extra traffic something is going to have to be done.”
Chairman Pat Kenny suggested: “There is a possibility we could put a proposal to the council to reopen the road at Dryden. There is more of a call for it now. Maybe it is time to revisit this.”
