A Loanhead community councillor had a near-miss experience with his grandson when a van mounted a pavement at a notorious rat-run.
John Thomson described the ordeal to highlight the threat he fears is being posed to pedestrian safety by drivers illegally using Dryden Terrace.
He said two vans approached the no-through road linking Pentland Road.
“We almost got hit. One of the vans mounted the pavement. I think it is a hazard.”
Loanhead and District Community Council chairman Pat Kenny said the issue had been highlighted in recent months and signage made it clear it was not open to all vehicles.
“It is a criminal offence,” he added. “It is high time something was done. It is either completely shut or completely open. That isn’t happening.”
