Children at a Midlothian school have been rewarded for their drive to make an impact on their environment and learn about sustainability.

Loanhead Primary School’s eco committee took delivery of a Green Flag, the top award for participation in the international Eco-Schools programme.

Led by teachers Sam Malcolm and Anne Hunter, pupils have spent two years working on projects focusing on water, litter and recycling.

Around 750,000 pupils across Scotland are involved in the Eco-Schools programme, which is assessed by Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Eco-Schools team.
