Loanhead residents have been going off their trolley!

So much so, that the newly-opened Asda superstore is now employing a specialist firm to retrieve some of the shop’s trolleys abandoned around the town.

Deputy store manager Mat Danes told last week’s Loanhead and District Community Council that efforts to address the problem were “not efficient”, so a new tack had to be explored.

“From last week, we have begun to use a company to collect trolleys. They will carry out a full sweep of the area on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“They will leave cards at residents’ addresses where trolleys are collected, and there will also be a log book at the customer services desk to note where there is an issue.

“Hopefully, this will rectify the problem.”
