Loanhead’s newest superstore has unveiled its commitment to the local community.

Asda at Straiton launched its Community Life initiative with the help of Penicuik-based Black Diamond cheerleaders and the Edinburgh and District Juvenline Pipe Band last week.

The campaign, launched by Loanhead area Inspector Neil Simpson, will mean each Asda store has a “community champion” dedicated to supporting the surrounding area. Loanhead’s community champion is Louise Cromise.

One of the main aims will be stores opening their doors to community groups if they require designated space for their activities. A special community board has been launched and money will be raised for local worthwhile causes.
