IKEA hopes to open its new external warehouse in Loanhead early next year.
Details of the company’s expansion plans in the area have emerged. Planning consent is being sought to redevelop the former Lynx parcel delivery warehouse at nearby Pentland Industrial Estate.
IKEA store manager Linton Scarborough told the Advertiser that the opportunity to develop an external warehouse near the Straiton store arose 18 months ago.
The new facility will allow the company to stock more items locally rather than having them delivered from England.
