Moorfoot and Gorebridge Community Councils have discussed a boundary change for the 700 homes planned at Redheugh.
Speaking at his group’s latest meeting last week, Gorebridge Community Council chairman Trevor Taylor explained why the recent discussion between the two community councils came about: “This new development at Redheugh comes under Moorfoot Community Council, but any effect will be on Gorebridge. Any kind of local services, like schools and doctors surgeries, will be effected.
“So we have agreed with Moorfoot to go forward now and make an attempt to Midlothian Council to change the boundary.”
A council spokesman said: “The proposals must be submitted in writing to Midlothian Council. All affected community councils are then informed, prior to publication of a public notice for a consultation period of 90 days.
“Subsequently each affected community council will be required to call a public meeting and hold a show of hands vote to approve the proposal. If all affected community councils approve the proposal, it will be formally submitted to Midlothian Council for consideration.”
