Arresting time for Dalkeith pupils
DALKEITH: Police Station. All the P1 pupils from King's Park Primary tour the Police station
Throwing school children into a police cell might seem a bit harsh, but that is exactly what occurred during a recent visit to Dalkeith Police Station by pupils from King’s Park Primary.
The children, all in P1, “thoroughly enjoyed” their visit, which linked in with part of their current studies on the topic of ‘people who help us’.
“It was really informative and they really enjoyed it – the police were very accommodating and welcoming, and the children came away very enthusiastic about the work that they do,” said a member of staff.
The visit, which was arranged through the help of community beat officer Rona Duncan, saw children try on handcuffs before being fingerprinted and taken to the cells.
