Balanced budget is set by Midlothian Council

Midlothian Council has set a balanced budget for 2012/13.

Councillor last week also agreed to Scottish Government demands for a council tax freeze.

Head of finance Gary Fairley told the council meeting that the balance budget was achieved thanks to the work of the business transformation programme, which is led by a cross-party group of councillors.

Council leader Derek Milligan (Lab) congratulated everyone on the work done to set the budget and he praised the “level of maturity” at a political level.
