Bike theft tears turn to joy for Rosewell schoolgirl Jillian Neil
Rosewell schoolgirl Jillian Neil is "over the moon" after being reunited with her treasured bike – thanks to The Advertiser.
Brave Jillian (11), who recently completed treatment for leukaemia, was left devastated after her GT Aggressor was stolen from outside her Prestonhall Crescent home.
As reported in the Advertiser, the bike was bought to help prevent Jillian's joints seizing up during months of gruelling treatment and she used it to cycle to Rosewell Primary every day.
After an appeal by mum Margaret (39) appeared on our front page, the bike has been returned.
"She's over the moon", said Margaret. "It was a great result and it was thanks to the article in The Advertiser."
The community rallied round after reading about the theft, with heart-warming gestures including offers of a replacement.
"We would like to let these people know we really appreciate their kindness", said Margaret.
