Not one, but two Marys from Bonnyrigg have celebrated 100th birthdays.

Mary Moran reached the milestone at the local Nazareth House care home, while Mary Collins hit the big 100 in Corringham, Essex.

Mary Moran was born on January 10, 1913, in the Parish town of Achill, Ireland.

Mary Collins (nee Arnott) celebrated her century achievement on January 4 in Essex.

She worked at Brixwold Castle Hotel (now The Retreat) as a housemaid until 1946, when she moved to London with her husband Ted Collins, whom she met in the army.
