Call for Midlothian waste policy rethink

MIDLOTHIAN Council’s plans to increase trade waste charges have been criticised by a local business leader.

Gordon Henderson, senior development manager for the Federation of Small Businesses, describes the local authority’s new policy as “possibly an example of the very worst method of interacting with businesses”.

The Dalkeith-based official has written to the council’s chief executive, Kenneth Lawrie, urging the council to engage with local businesses on the issue and help them create jobs in difficult economic times.
