Communities gain from Lottery funds
A VARIETY of local community projects have benefited from lottery funding.
The National Lottery’s small grants scheme ‘Awards for All’ recently awarded grants totalling £2,018,257 to 294 groups across Scotland, with Midlothian projects receiving much needed funds.
Pathhead and District Community Association was awarded £8,990 to help kick-start the five-year renovation of the village hall.
Mayfield and Easthouses Y2K Youth Project was given £7,635 for its social enterprise - Midlothian Garden Services. This provides young people with training, while allowing them to improve their own community.
An award of £9993 is also being given to Loanhead Community Learning Association. The money means the group will be able to offer young people between 16 and 24 years a place on a 12-week course in hard landscaping.
And, Lasswade Athletics and Fitness Club were awarded £4,500 to help them develop their coaching. They will also establish new youth and adult clubs.
