The community of Newtongrange have worked together to bring an important new facility to the village.

With support from Midlothian Council and community groups, local youngsters came up with the idea and raised the £80,000 needed to build a new skatepark, due to open this autumn in Welfare Park.

Money for the park will come from a variety of sources including the council, Network Rail and the Dean Tavern Trust.

Community organisation Newtongrange Community 1st raised £16,000 while WREN is contributing £30,000.
