Complaints about dog fouling in Midlothian

MORE than 1100 complaints about dog fouling have been recorded – but only 87 fixed penalty notices have been issued as a result.

The figures emerged after a Freedom of Information request to Midlothian Council recently.

A total of 1159 complaints were logged in the five years to September 2012. Fines account for seven per cent of logged complaints.

More than 200 dog fouling complaints were recorded in each of the last three years.
